Day 1: Kithulgala
Upon arrival at the airport, you will be picked up and driven to
Kithulgala. Your luncheon will be provided on spot. Next, we start
cycling trail from Kithulagala to a historical cave in Belilina,
which is about 5 hours up and down to Kithulgala. Dinner and stay
overnight at Kithulgala Rest House.
Day 2: Kithulgala - Belihuloya
After breakfast, we offer you a great experience on white-water
rafting. After lunch, we go to Belihuloya - this is a very
picturesque and romantic hamlet situated about 160km from Colombo in
the historical Sabaragamuwa province. This region is a climatically
transitional area linking the wet & dry zone with the hill
country & the low country. This is very important location gas
made it one of the places in the country with the highest
bio-diversity. The streams namely "Belihuloya" and "Galagamaoya"
meet together creating a natural bathing area with clear unpolluted
water, which comes from "Horton Plains" 2200 metres above
the sea level. Before the night falling down, we will reach
Belihuloya. Dinner and stay overnight at The Resort or Camping.
Day 3: Belihuloya - Samanalawawa
After breakfast, we commence cycling to Samanalawawa Reservoir
through the village. The Samanalawewa Reservior is in the edge of
the small, was called "Kinchigune". As the history said
the most inhabitants of village have produced steel weapons for King
Dutugemunu's Army in the 2nd century BC. Beside they have supplied
steel for making of world famous Damascus sword. Lunch will be
served on spot. Take you a break after lunch. Next, we go canoeing
in the Reservoir. Following adventurous trip, you will be back to
the cottage or campsite for dinner and stay overnight.
Day 4: Bambarakanda - Belihuloya
After breakfast, the journey will be starting at 06h00. You go
cycling from Belihuloya (14 km), along the main road uphill to
Kalupahana to meet the left turn, which leads to Horton Plains -
this particular route has got its name as "Satan's Steps"
by reason of the steep climb and narrow sharp bends, mainly hairpin
bends. You should not get deceived by the good road condition when
you cycle the primary few kilometers as the condition of the main
climb is really bad and worth conquering.
We will take you to the main
tourist attractions on the route "Bambarakanda Waterfall",
the Sri Lanka's highest waterfall - which has a height of 790ft.
Having a dip in the natural rock pool at the bottom of this fall
would be an unforgettable experience. Lunch will be provided on the
way. At the end of the day, we will return to the cottage or
campsite in Belihuloya for dinner and stay overnight.
Day 5: Belihuloya
After breakfast, today, you are free, which you may be spent at
leisure or taken the option of further cycling of nature walking
trail to Pahanthudu Ella - it will take about four and a half hours
(4 ½ hrs.).
Daily schedule from 14h30 to 19h00,
the trail starts form the hotel restaurant where a briefing about
nature is given after that we go to the main road, 200m towards
Colombo through the village (Seelogama) to the damp semi evergreen
forest, to the next village (Binthenigolla), through the terraced
paddy fields, along the channel bout 200m, up to a small patina, up
again to a damp semi evergreen forest, through the forest to the
summit where is an abandoned chena, down the other side of mountain
through the forest, across the Belihuloya river to visit the
waterfall (Pahanthueda Ella), climb up to the village of Pahala
Galagama, climb up to the village of Pahala Galagama, down along
Pahala Galagama Road to the main road and back to the cottage or
campsite. Dinner and stay overnight.
Day 6: Departure
After breakfast, we leave Belihuloya to airport. Take-off.
